British Council and BFI partner Sarajevo Film Festival to make UK this year's CineLink Partner Country
We are delighted to be partnering BFI and Sarajevo Film Festival on its 20th anniversary to present UK as the CineLink Partner Country in this year’s edition. The CineLink Partner Country Initiative aims to systematically strengthen the working relationship between the Southeast European film industry and its international counterparts. Recent partner countries include Germany and France; this year it is the UK and we have worked closely with BFI and SFF to bring a fantastic line-up of 20 British producers, sales agents, distributors, agents and festival representatives for four intensive days from 20 to 23 August during which they will be meeting regional film makers and promoting the possibilities of cooperation.
Led by our brilliant Bosnian colleagues and supported by EU funds our Connecting Films initiative has enabled this culmination of many years’ cooperation with the Festival. Highlights include:
• A delegation of 20 UK film industry professionals to participate in regional panels, bilateral and multilateral meetings with professionals as well as masterclasses with young talents, Q+A sessions and career interviews;
• Screening of over 20 UK films and additional 20 UK guest appearances at the Festival including a tribute to Michael Winterbottom and Mike Leigh, one of the recipients of the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo;
• Screening of BFI's archive film “A Night at the Cinema in 1914” over five nights in the open air cinema to an audience of 2000;
• A British Council, British Embassy and SFF Reception for partners, guests and stars at the UK Residence and a British Council, BFI and SFF Industry networking reception for Film Professionals.
We will also have a Film London/British Council Microschool International table at Cinelink representing the five Georgian film projects mentored by FL's Microwave team under our Microschool project which launched at Batumi International Arthouse Film Festival in 2013 in partnership with the Georgian National Film Center.
Happy 20th Anniversary, Sarajevo Film Festival!
