French director Nora Mandray talks about the Detroit-set True Wheel.

Nora Mandray is an award-winning French filmmaker based in Berlin. She is passionate about impacting change. From 2011 to 2012, Mandray lived in Detroit in order to write and direct a trilogy of short documentaries about the bankrupt city's reinvention. Its first installment, "3 Acres in Detroit," premiered at the Berlinale in 2014 and has screened worldwide since – it tells the story of a willful urban farmer who sets out to transform an abandoned house into a greenhouse. "True Wheel" is the second installment of Mandray's Detroit Trilogy.

Mandray, a Fulbright alum, is a traveller - she speaks French, English, Polish and German - and holds a double-Master's degree from the University of California-Los Angeles film school and from the Institute of Political Sciences in Paris.

When she's not found filming, Nora Mandray teaches filmmaking; she has led case studies at major international festivals (DOK Leipzig, Dubai Doc Voices, etc.). Nora is currently working on her first feature project.
